Artist to look out for

The first artist I'm going to talk about is J.cole who recently signed to Jay-Z's Rocnation label he has been generating a buzz with his mix tapes yet people have not heard him yet. The airwaves have been dominated with garbage performers instead of real mcs like J.cole he got a lot of acclaim for his covers of Jay-Z's " Dead Presidents" and has several videos on you tube.He also produces and at the age of 25 has the old school soul with the new school flow which is what hip hop needs. Also for those who don't know he is featured on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album as well as Wale's debut album. Look for this young man to take over the airwaves. The next person I want to talk about is Jay Electronica he is also another artist on the come up and has been creating a buzz I myself have just heard of him but I am glad to have come across him besides being known for his music he is also known as Erykah Badu's new significant other or good friend you know how that goes. But what it really comes down to is the music he is a rapper who pushes the envelope he is known for his unconventional methods for creating his music and his abstract lyrical skills. I like when artist like these two artist come out because it makes me believe music is not dead and all is not lost. People like me who appreciate good music need to make sure artist like these shine also look out for B.O.B but I will talk about that later till then be safe and be blessed

Creativity in videos

Today's blog is about an upcoming rapper who I believe is very creative. This young artist who goes by the name Genesis Be a.k.a. Lokey who has a single out called "I don't discriminate", has a video that goes along with what she is rapping about. That is something I have not seen in along time, it takes me back to back in the day when you had people like Fresh Prince, Tribe called Quest and others who had funny videos to express the ideas they were portraying in their songs. I would love to see that instead of these flashy videos, that have nothing to do with what they are rapping about( if they are actually rapping about something, that is). I'm tired of these club tracks, these songs about some stupid dance that someone came up with, and i'm tired of seeing girls shake their ass. Don't get me wrong I love a girl's ass but I want to see more in a video. You can judge for yourself, let me know what you think

What happened to creativity?

I'm on a mission to find people who agree with me that what hip-hop and r&b has turned into is a disgrace. There are people out there who feel what soulja boy puts out is hot, some people swear by Gucci Mane and woka floca flame, i'm just asking why what is so hot about what they are saying? And what kind of name is woka floca flame anyway? I come from an era where everybody had creativity and diversity and you had like three or four albums to choose from, now they are lucky if they get me to buy one. There is hope though, I have one rapper in particular that I support, he is an upcoming rapper by the name of TJ the Soulful Rapper. He has a New York old school flow with a touch of soul. There are some others but this one I know about, follow him on face book, myspace, twitter and at http://www.reverbnation.com/tjsoulfulrapper let me know what you think. Check out XV too, if you know of people let me know, and i'll tell you what I think. Check out XV on facebook, myspace, and you tube
