Underground needs to come to the foreground

This blog is about underground artist and the youtube channels that are dedicated to bringing them to the surface. In the process of uploading my own videos I have come across some other channels and have made some new friends on youtube who appreciate real music a dude who goes by the name of Afrotastik came across my channel and said he loved my uploads and told me to check his channel out, so I did and I loved it nothing but uploaded videos of hip-hop in it's truest form. It was like a trip down memory lane. I'm telling you people if you are a fan of true hip-hop we need to get it back on the airwaves and make sure these underground artist are not underground any more if you go to youtube check out Afrotastik's channel check out Genesis Be's channel,King of Kings records and check out skateboardc7's channel. Remember this is like voting and every voice counts because one voice can turn into many. That is what my blog is dedicated to getting real music out there, sure I can talk about what goes on in my day or what goes on in my family like some others and I could talk about artist people already know. But everybody in the world blogs about them and I don't want to bore you with stories of my life so I try to reach out to music lovers such as myself so that this music can be heard. We have subjected to this bubble gum rap and r&b too long. And please if you like my blogs spread the word I need all the support I can get. Be safe and have a blessed day

Music that is saying something

Many say hip-hop is dead well I say it is not. What is going on is the people who grew up listening to real hip-hop just have stop listening to the radio and watching the video shows so their voices are not heard. They rather listen to their "oldies but goodies" I know i'm one of them if you have read any of my other blogs you already know that. For those who have not come across any of my blogs, my blogs consist of people who stay true to themselves and don't go for what's hot right now. Ultimately folks when you stay true to yourself and make good music your music will last.I have blogged about TJ the soulful rapper, Genesis Be, Jay Electronica, Charles Hamilton, B.O.B.,and XV because they all have what I feel is the elements that created hip-hop not Rap. Yes there is a difference. Rappers now are just going for what they think will sell they are full of gimmicks and they do not stay true to themselves. Rap is just the outside shell of he music it's the performing side. Hip-Hop is the art form in which rappers use to express themselves through their music. Now if you have not heard of these people you can look them up on facebook, youtube, reverbnation, Twitter they are out there if you are a fan of real hip-hop please support these people they really need your support most of them are doing it independent which is a lot harder than doing it with a major label backing them. But I want you to check out this video of Genesis Be performing and listen to what she is saying she is really talking about something that what hip-hop is about displaying emotions through the music, not just making us dance or act crazy in the club. Check her out on youtube , facebook and other social networking sites also check her out at genesisbe.com.Please also check out TJ the soulful Rapper at http://www.reverbnation.com/tjsoulfulrapper and on facebook. Enjoy Genesis Be's video.

I don't know what's going on

There is always something in the news and it usually is something crazy but this one is just ob-sured. In looking for what's going on in the world and I came across this story of a woman in Columbus, Ohio who shot her younger cousin dead because she did not think her outfit was appropriate for Easter. Apparently the younger 19 year old female came to the cousin's house in jean shorts and a shirt tied around her mid section and the older cousin did like it and felt she was flirting around the men especially her husband. Comments were made and a fight ensued after the fight was broken up the 19 year old girl's sister was about to take her home when the older cousin ( who is 47 by the way)came out with a gun reached into the car and pulled the 19 year old by the hair then shot her dead, went back in the house sat on the couch told everybody what happened a waited for the police. Now if this is not crazy I do not know what is. I don't know what else to say about this

Bieber Fever!

It's still a mystery to me how this kid became so big, especially off of youtube but he is the hottest thing out right now. He is trending everyday on twitter and has numerous fan clubs on twitter and probably the other social networking sites ( I don't know I don't follow him). He is all over the place from 106&park to SNL. But it seems not only singing is his talent he has taught himself how to play the piano, guitar and the drums. He even challenged Questlove of the roots to a drum off. And he is pretty good, but I don't think Questlove has to worry about his job. Anyway it looks like Bieber mania is going to be going on for a long time. Check out him on the Jimmy Falon show.

Freedom of speech taken to the max

I understand we have freedom of speech but some people take it to another level, which makes me wonder is freedom of speech too free? An anti-Obama group who call themselves billboardsagainstobama.com have been putting up anti-Obama billboards across metro Atlanta. Now I understand everyone is going to have their opinion and i'm not to go Bush bashing but this man is trying his best to fix this debacle that this stubborn and ideological government is in. Many do not like his tactics but we have been dealing with the same tactics for decades and it has not been working. We need change and that is the problem with so many people, they are scared of change. All throughout history man has ridiculed, tortured, crucified, and enslaved others they do not understand it is barbaric and it needs to stop. Who are we to cast stones at people and claim to be so Christian this is one of the problems I have with religion now, but that's a whole other subject. One billboard says stop the foolishness but the main ones who say things like that are the ones with the foolishness, but this is just my opinion I am sure you have your own. That's all I have to say on the matter, be safe and be blessed

Freshman

Today's blog is about a kind of forgotten freshman who goes by the name of Charles Hamilton. He was once critically acclaimed and was featured on XXL'S freshman class of 2009 but was dropped by his label. Now he is still in the mix with fellow freshman B.O.B. (who has a single out that's blazing the airwaves titled " Nothing on You").They have a track together titled " Paperboy" there is the possibility of them working on a project together. The song is for the type of people who have a open mind and want to use their mind. That's who I reach out to in my blog music plus. I know i'm the only one who feels that we need real music to come back. We need to express this it's like voting you can't complain about things if you are not taking the necessary steps to change what's going on. I know I talk about hip hop alot but it is needed in r&b too.So let's support our artist who are creative and push the envelope. Be blessed

Artist to look out for

The first artist I'm going to talk about is J.cole who recently signed to Jay-Z's Rocnation label he has been generating a buzz with his mix tapes yet people have not heard him yet. The airwaves have been dominated with garbage performers instead of real mcs like J.cole he got a lot of acclaim for his covers of Jay-Z's " Dead Presidents" and has several videos on you tube.He also produces and at the age of 25 has the old school soul with the new school flow which is what hip hop needs. Also for those who don't know he is featured on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album as well as Wale's debut album. Look for this young man to take over the airwaves. The next person I want to talk about is Jay Electronica he is also another artist on the come up and has been creating a buzz I myself have just heard of him but I am glad to have come across him besides being known for his music he is also known as Erykah Badu's new significant other or good friend you know how that goes. But what it really comes down to is the music he is a rapper who pushes the envelope he is known for his unconventional methods for creating his music and his abstract lyrical skills. I like when artist like these two artist come out because it makes me believe music is not dead and all is not lost. People like me who appreciate good music need to make sure artist like these shine also look out for B.O.B but I will talk about that later till then be safe and be blessed
