Music that is saying something

Many say hip-hop is dead well I say it is not. What is going on is the people who grew up listening to real hip-hop just have stop listening to the radio and watching the video shows so their voices are not heard. They rather listen to their "oldies but goodies" I know i'm one of them if you have read any of my other blogs you already know that. For those who have not come across any of my blogs, my blogs consist of people who stay true to themselves and don't go for what's hot right now. Ultimately folks when you stay true to yourself and make good music your music will last.I have blogged about TJ the soulful rapper, Genesis Be, Jay Electronica, Charles Hamilton, B.O.B.,and XV because they all have what I feel is the elements that created hip-hop not Rap. Yes there is a difference. Rappers now are just going for what they think will sell they are full of gimmicks and they do not stay true to themselves. Rap is just the outside shell of he music it's the performing side. Hip-Hop is the art form in which rappers use to express themselves through their music. Now if you have not heard of these people you can look them up on facebook, youtube, reverbnation, Twitter they are out there if you are a fan of real hip-hop please support these people they really need your support most of them are doing it independent which is a lot harder than doing it with a major label backing them. But I want you to check out this video of Genesis Be performing and listen to what she is saying she is really talking about something that what hip-hop is about displaying emotions through the music, not just making us dance or act crazy in the club. Check her out on youtube , facebook and other social networking sites also check her out at genesisbe.com.Please also check out TJ the soulful Rapper at http://www.reverbnation.com/tjsoulfulrapper and on facebook. Enjoy Genesis Be's video.
